High Tech Dental Care

The last few years have been a time of remarkable change for practicing dentists. We have seen the advent of the computer based practice. With computers we handle appointment scheduling, insurance tracking, clinical charting, treatment planning, billing and appointment reminders (to mention just a few).

A young patient enjoys a DVD movie on our VR goggles, while Dr Mangan works.

Some of the other High Tech items we have at our office include Lasers that can prepare teeth for fillings (often without the need for shots or drills!), Digital X-Rays (which give immediate results and a greatly enlarged view to improve our ability to make a correct diagnosis), High-Speed Curing Lights (which allow us to restore teeth with tooth colored filling materials in much less time), and even Virtual Reality Glasses that allow patients to watch their favorite DVD movie while they get their dental work completed. You won't believe how nice it can be to keep your teeth and mouth in good shape!

Diagnodent

When it comes to making the right diagnosis, technology has given us several exciting new tools.  For example, we have the ability to verify the presence of decay on a tooth before we begin the preparation for a filling.  Using Diagnodent, a beam of laser light is passed into the tooth, and a reading is taken of the way the light is reflected back to the instrument.  Decay has a very specific wavelength of light that bounces back to the Diagnodent, which allows us to quantify the amount of decay that is present.

Digital X-Rays

Imagine the advantage held by the dentist who looks at your x-rays 50 times larger than normal, with the ability to adjust the lightness, darkness, and contrast to just the right level, and the ability to zoom in on any area that looks suspicious. That guy is the one I would want checking my mouth for cavities. Then (to expand the fantasy) let's say that you could get those x-rays with up to 90% less radiation than traditional x-rays. To top it off, wouldn't it be nice if you could see those big, ideal x-rays instantly, as in no waiting for them to be developed while you read a year-old magazine?
OK, here's the big news. That ideal situation is exactly what we use every day with our computerized digital x-rays. Why should you be getting anything less?

Cerec Single Visit Crowns

Unmatched fit and beauty, and typically all in a single visit.  With the Cerec 3D we can prepare a compromised tooth for a crown, take a digital image of the tooth, and using amazing CAD/CAM technology we can design and mill a metal-free crown that will look and feel like a real tooth.

Cerec crowns and inlays can also be used to replace old failing fillings, unsightly old crowns, and even for single day "extreme makeover" cosmetic procedures.  This technology is making it possible to get first-rate crowns without ever having to walk around with a temporary restoration.  If you're in need of crowns or veneers, you owe it to yourself to look into this technology.

Invisalign®

Invisalign® is the most advanced treatment modality available in orthodontics today. Invisalign® straightens teeth with the use of a series of clear aligners (molds) that are made of thin medical-grade plastic that are virtually invisible when worn.

Dr. Mangan has achieved the status of an Invisalign® Premier Provider, which places him in the Top 5% of Invisalign® Practitioners in North America. Dr. Mangan has treated some amazing cases, which you can see on our Invisalign® page which tells you all about Invisalign® and how it works.

Dental Implants

The state of the art in replacing missing teeth has for years required cutting down the teeth on either side of a missing tooth in order to place a fixed bridge.  But with the advent of dental implants that era has ended.  By placing dental implants we can now preserve bone that was once destined to slowly and permanantly go away.  We can replace teeth without compromising the surrounding teeth.  In a procedure that is clinically predictable, comparable in price to a fixed bridge, and esthetically beautiful, dental implants are giving new hope to those who have lost one or more teeth.

For denture wearers we are seeing dramatic improvements in quality of life through the placement of dental implants.  Dentures that once fell down or floated around are able to be stabilized, restoring confidence to the wearer.

Laser Fillings

A few years ago the FDA approved the first laser that could be used to remove decay from teeth. It was heralded as a remarkable advance in the field of dentistry. It allows most people to get their fillings without shots, numbness, or the use of drills. We ordered ours immediately. You may have seen news about this new technology on TV or in print, but you probably haven't seen many people advertising that they are using one. Very few dentists have spent the time and money to train on the laser and purchase one. It is a big investment, but we think you're worth it!
